problems moving VM's from workstation to esxi

With CentOS 6 everthing is handled by udev now.

Go into /etc/udev/rules.d and delete the 70-persistent-net.rules

Now you need to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and manually strip the file of anything that could break it - dont delete this file though.  Just keep the eth0, IP address

restarting the network service does nothing, it seems that udev needs to restart , so restart the machine
Is there another to restart udev ?
