Can't Install Powershell Modules

 When trying to install a PowerShell module I was getting this error...

WARNING: Unable to resolve package source 'https://www.powershellgallery.com/api/v2/'.

PackageManagement\Install-Package : No match was found for the specified search criteria and module name 'XXX'.


Turns out it was a problem with the SecurityProtocol, fixed by entering 

[System.Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol =                     [System.Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12; 


SecurityProtocols I had in place before entering this command were...

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> [System.Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol

Ssl3, Tls


Afterwards, I had 

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> [System.Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol

Tls12

NMAP

It's been about 15 years since I used NMAP, I forgot how useful the tool is. To find out what services are running on an IP address simply use something like nmap -n -v -p1-10000 x.x.x.x -n tells nmap not to do name resolution (saves about 13 seconds if the IP you're scanning isn't in DNS_ -v verbose -p1-10000 says scan ports 1 to 10,000 (otherwise nmap will only scan the first 1000 ports)
